The fourth batch of Sri Lankan educators from the North Central Province visited the Regional Office for an international exposure on “School-Based Management and School-Based Teacher Development Strategies and Implementation.” The Field and Technical Assistance division hosted the event which was attended by Assistant Regional Director, Francis Cesar B. Bringas.

The program was hosted by Ms. Andrea Mabelle E. Abrencillo, RFTA Education Program Supervisor. It started wit the singing of the Philippine National Anthem followed with Sri Lanka’s own national anthem. ARD Bringas welcomed the guests while the presentation of participants was done by Mrs. Agnes F. Rolle, Chief of FTAD. After which, Mrs. Rolle acquainted the visitors with the provinces and city divisions that comprise DepEd Region IVA- CALABARZON then she presented the region’s advocacy- the TEA Governance anchored on the SCOUTERS ROCK. Next, she proceeded on discussing the School-Based Management and School-Based Teacher Development Strategies and Implementation wherein she emphasized that, “School Effectiveness is made possible through the SBM grants to low-funded schools with not more than three hundred learners. Through this grant, learning is made possible for the learners”.

After Mrs. Rolle’s presentation, queries were raised by the Sri Lankan visitors during the open forum. Questions on how DepEd CALABARZON manages, monitors, implements and evaluates the efficiency and effectiveness of School-Based Management programs were readily answered by ARD Bringas and Mrs. Rolle.

Finally, words of thanks and appreciation were shared by one of the visitors, Mr. Abbas Muslimeen, Assistant Director of Education. He said that School-Based Management and School-Based Teacher Development Strategies and Implementation in DepEd CALABARZON impressed and inspired their team. He added that they would be glad to bring their new learning back to Sri Lanka even though they were challenged on how to implement the program effectively in their Ministry.

Notably present during the visit were Education Program Supervisors from Rizal and HRDD, District Supervisors from Cainta and Batangas, the Principal of Karangalan Elementary School, Public Affairs and ICT Unit representatives, members of the PRAXIS and Madam Chanida Rojanivichai from Thailand.
